Recession : Destination India
I’m not talking to businesses. I am talking to middle class people who would like to live in a low-cost english speaking democracy and learn about an ancient culture while they wait for the recession to end.
It does not matter how little money you have. Once you come to India, you can manage to live on that little bit of money for a long time.
Don’t head for the metros. Head for the small places, city outskirts. They are pretty and clean and inexpensive. There will be someone who understands a bit of english and you can manage.
You can educate your kids through travel and that is better than school in many ways. Pick a spot where the weather suits you and you won’t have to worry about air conditioning.
I met a young englishman when I visited Pokhran in Nepal, in the nineties. He wasn’t yet married. So he lived 6 months in England working and 6 months in Pokhran in hotel called The resteraunt at the End of the Universe, spending his money on lodging and food and watching the sun set over the Himalayas… everyday. My son and I joined him the evening we were there and he taught my son a game to play.
I guess that is where I got my initial idea of making money in places where the rates are good and chilling out in places where the expenses are low.
Recession is for recess!
I like this idea!
Incidentally there is an interesting website that is specifically dedicated to recession victims. It offers help and discusses all issues related to recession-www.angstcorner.com. It’s worth a visit!
